Intention

by Michael J. Shea, Ph.D.

The intention of a session of work is to patiently allow the client's body to self-correct by contacting Primary Respiration and other critical Tides in the fluids. It is done in a non-invasive way with light, sustained, hands-on contact often for 5 to 10 minutes with each hand position, The total time for a session is approximately 45-60 minutes. The practitioner's ability to concentrate on stillness and then slowly focus on these subtle rhythms creates coherence in the central nervous system and body of the client. The client is also coached to sense the fluid systems in their body while receiving a Biodynamic session. This greatly enhances the therapeutic effectiveness of the work.

A common misconception is that Biodynamic practitioners only work with the head. In fact, a session includes working with the entire body. By detecting disturbances in the various fluid motions in the body, a certified practitioner is able to empathetically sense the underlying trauma patterns in the fluids and frequently is able to bring about a therapeutic resolution via careful facilitation of the fluids back to normal motion.
